Mr. C has contacted me again. Gave me a package that had some tickets to Seattle, some money, and a reservation at a hotel. Not his normal M.O. but at least it was a job. I hadn't heard from him in a bit and I was getting worried he had moved on. Cameron was more worried he forgot about me - pardon us - but I reminded her that he hadn't forgotten yet. It was always a good sign to hear from him. I grabbed the essentials and left for the airport. Thankfully I didn't have much to check on, and my badges took care of what complications would inevitably arise. There was a layover in some city or another (they all blend together in the air) and I think I speak for everyone when I say that it was... shocking to find others aboard the flight. I slipped quietly into a seat near the back and watched as the others made blundering fools of themselves. Well, a few of them. I was quite impressed by the stunt man and the security man. Both seem like they could be useful. Cameron wanted to flirt a bit, mainly with the stunt man, but I restrained her. I'm quite glad I did. We were to be companions, after all, and the last thing we want to happen is for romance to get in the way of a job that needs doing.
Our flight touched down in Seattle, and already the group deemed it necessary to make fools of themselves. The two I had thought were sensible decided to hitch a ride on a luggage cart instead of walking the whole distance of five feet. I only hope that they aren't as showy during whatever it is Mr C hired us for, or else we might all be in trouble. They managed to impress no one (excluding Cameron, since she's impressed by everything) with their stunt, and if they pull something like that on a job it could backfire. Heaven help us if one of them ends up leading this rag tag team. I bet none of them have ever done jobs like this. I'd say none of them have killed, but the odd man (not to be confused with the tall man) has already admitted to being a "dhampir." I shall have to keep an eye on him. Reaper might want to have a chat if things turn south, although I hope it doesn't come to that.
Once everyone rested up, Mr. C called us together. Or rather, we were called, and Mr C joined us. He was missing a watch. I almost asked why this was so important, but he soon told us. I got a picture of the watch as well as the girl he thinks stole it. There are quite a few leads I want to follow, but being in a group means doing things with them. It's a bother, really. I haven't had a chance to study up on the area, what "spooks" could be around here. The girl will be a fun chase, but it's not the only thing around here for me to do. Not that it would be easy to slip away from the group for a bit. I'm more worried about what will happen to them once I'm gone then anything else. Of all the people Mr C could have called, he had to find a bunch of newbies. I feel like I'm on the isle of misfit toys or something.
Day one was spent stocking up, and we finally did some ground work during the night. A tour of the tunnels. Holy. Shit. There's some scary stuff down there, even for a Ghost. I need books, internet access, something to bring out some info. The glowing eyes in the dark don't scary me. The loony security guard who talks to air doesn't freak me out. What really gets me spooked is not knowing what any of this is or how to fight it. Constant vigilance. I know that better then any of these greenies, and yet they won't let me just work. Maybe I'll take tomorrow off and spend it doing research. It'd be better then running into this blind.
